A collaboration between a Taiwanese artist and a Hong Kong artist, using megaphones to transmit intersecting voices across the space, shifting between languages and accents.

The echoes and dissonances mimic the gestures of islands constantly negotiating under shifting powers and historical tides. Here, language is not merely a tool for communication, but a marker of boundaries, a trial of identity, and an echo of resistance.

Island Practice Manual is an unfinished set of instructions, inviting the audience to inhabit the intervals between voices, where isolation meets connection, and discipline meets freedom.

"Archipelagoing" is a performance art experiment concerning individual being and continuous becoming. The archipelago, as a geographical archetype, is essentially a philosophy of the gap. The defined borders of the islands establish periphery and self-sufficiency, while the surrounding ocean, currents, and tides foreshadow drifting, searching, and inevitable interconnection. This structure is not merely the sum of its islands; it is a dynamic network woven together, emphasizing non-linearity and the generativity of contingent encounters. This performance translates this geographical tension into an action-based geography, directly confronting an existential tension: when individuals are forcibly aggregated and guided towards specific paths and positions, how can they maintain the autonomy of their internal boundaries? This experiment is a poetic response to demanded collectivity and the homogeneous and monolithic spectacle. It stands in confrontation with the solidification and definition imposed by the centralized grand narrative, aiming to anchor the self's fluid, polysemic, and perpetually unfixed cultural identity through the body's micro-deviations.
