Artist Statement

Po-Yun Kuo is a Taiwanese interdisciplinary artist working across sculpture, video installation, and performance art.

Her practice explores the intersections of the body, mobility, and politics. She is particularly interested in how shifts in space reflect the dynamics of power and social class. Frequently reconfiguring found objects from public environments, she creates new meanings that challenge conventional uses and perceptions of space.

Humor and irony are central to her work, often used to deconstruct spatial power structures and expose their inherent absurdities. Through improvised performances in public settings, she disrupts existing spatial orders, prompting audiences to reconsider sensory experience and the blurred boundaries between art and daily life.

In addition to her artistic practice, she is also a documentary and experimental film director. Her films focus on socio-political issues in East Asia, with a particular interest in women's diary films and personal narratives.
